Continue your understanding of new materials and the machine: Learn to cut and sew knit fabric, how to clean and oil your sewing machine as well as how to read and work with sewing patterns.

You must attend the first class. Classes can be rescheduled between weekend times and in-week class offerings. Be sure to give at least 48-hour notice to transfer enrollment; please see individual classes for make-up dates.

Unit 2 - Intermediate

Class 1: Stretch Fabrics How-to
Learn tips and tricks, and techniques for success with knitted textiles in this hands on class! Knits and stretch fabrics are integral to modern clothing.

Class 2: DIY Sewing Machine Maintenance
Basic maintenance skills will help to ensure a long life for your sewing machine. Learn about proper care and cleaning of your machine, preventative maintenance as well as what to look for when purchasing a new or used sewing machine.

Class 3: Working with Commercial Patterns
Learn pattern terminology and what the information on and in the pattern envelope means- such as measurements and sizing, fabric suggestions and requirements, notions, fabric layout and a review of pattern markings and directions.

Class 4: Altering paper patterns
Learn to translate fittings into pattern alterations and further your understanding of how to make your own designs into wearable clothing.

All materials are included for all classes although you are encouraged to bring a pattern to 'Commercial Patterns' and 'Pattern Modification'.
